Wi-Fi 7 already?
Before many even had time to get Wi-Fi 6E, or even Wi-Fi 6, TP-Link is now releasing the “world’s first” Wi-Fi 7 routers. The company is updating its entire product line with Archer, Deco and also its business products. However, the Wi-Fi 7 standard is not actually fully finalized yet, it remains to be seen if TP-Link will send out some sort of update to these products when it is.
Wi-Fi 7, which is also known as 802.11BE, is thus the next step after Wi-Fi 6 and 6E witimprovements such as faster speed and lower latency. With the new standard, it should be possible to connect to two spectrums at the same time (5 GHz and 6 GHz) with Multi-Link Operation (MLO). As usual, new Wi-Fi is backwards compatible with older standards such as Wi-Fi 5 and 6, but you need to buy new devices that can handle Wi-Fi 7’s channels with the higher capacity of 320 MHz (Wi-Fi 6E supports channels up to 160 MHz).
The router we see in the picture has a touch screen that can show a clock, weather, or network statistics, there are also LED lights that can show, among other things, emojis.
TP-Link has also shown new Deco mesh networks and a gaming router. All products will be released on the market at the beginning of next year.
