New Horizons is going further out into space

NASA has officially given the green light and funding to let their New Horizons craft to get even further out in our solar system.

There has been talk for a while if they would just let the craft vanish into space or focus on inspecting the asteroid in 2014 MU69, also known as Potential Target 1 (PT1) of the Kuiper Belt and now it seems then so be the case. This had to do with the economy, but now it seems to be resolved according to NASA.

MU69 is about 1.6 billion kilometers from Pluto and New Horizons is expected to arrive there in January 2019.
